• SIGNATURES: The par-5 6th hole, with water all along the left and a peninsula green is scenic and scary; the 16th is the best of several par-4s where the approach plays downhill, then uphill over water.
• GETTING THERE: Dalat is located in the southern highlands, a mile above sea level, and a quick, 30-minute flight from Ho Chi Minh City.
• ROUTE 66: Remember Billy Casper as you walk the course. A month after he won the U.S. Open in 1966, he played the Dalat course on a USO tour of Vietnam.
• ROUTE 66 II: The course record here is 66, and it belongs to American pro Jeff Puchalski, former executive with DPGC’s ownership group.
• JOLLY GOOD: The clubhouse at Dalat Palace GC is an authentic Tudor-style model that longtime Dalat resident Antoine Siriot describes as “suitably English.”
• TOPS IN ASIA: In late 2006, Asian Golf Monthly magazine ranked the top courses in all of Asia. Dalat Palace placed 10th on that list. |
